Maxey’s clutch plays in the final minute sealed the win for Philadelphia, improving their record to 10-17. He converted a three-point play with 59 seconds left to regain the lead and followed it with a decisive three-pointer from the top of the key.
Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs with 26 points, nine rebounds, and eight blocks. Despite his efforts, San Antonio fell to 15-14. The Spurs briefly held the lead at 103-102 after Chris Paul’s jumper, but Maxey’s late-game heroics shifted momentum in Philadelphia’s favor.
Embiid’s ejection came with 2:59 left in the first half after receiving two technical fouls from referee Jenna Schroeder for arguing. Replays were inconclusive on whether Embiid made contact with the official. This marked another challenging moment for the 76ers, who have struggled to find consistency with their core lineup.
Paul George added 19 points and nine rebounds for Philadelphia, contributing significantly in Embiid’s absence. Guerschon Yabusele came off the bench to provide 17 points, including three three-pointers, further bolstering the 76ers’ offense.
Julian Champagnie provided valuable scoring off the bench for the Spurs with 15 points on five three-pointers, while Stephon Castle chipped in with 17 points.
San Antonio’s efficiency from the free-throw line (94.4%) kept them in the game, but their 33.3% three-point shooting ultimately hindered their chances of securing the win. Philadelphia capitalized on defensive stops, forcing 18 turnovers and recording 11 steals.
The game also saw a controversial moment in the third quarter when Andre Drummond was briefly ejected for an apparent foul on Wembanyama. After video review, the call was overturned, and Drummond returned to the game.
