NBA DFS: Top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy basketball picks for January 9 include Domantas Sabonis

The Denver Nuggets have already played Russell Westbrook and the Los Angeles Lakers three times this season, which gives daily Fantasy basketball players a strong sample to consider when looking at players from each team in the NBA DFS player pool. Unsurprisingly, Nikola Jokic has been strong against Los Angeles, and has put up 26.3 points, 12.7 rebounds and 7.7 assists in his three starts against it this year. Additionally, Denver point guard Jamal Murray has scored 18 points in each of his last two games and has shot 52.5% from the field over his last five starts.

Murray has also been crucial for the Nuggets against the Lakers this season and has averaged 19 points, 5.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds in those games. Meanwhile, center Thomas Bryant has stepped up in a big way for the Lakers since Anthony Davis’ foot injury. With LeBron James (ankle) out, Bryant should be in consideration for Monday’s NBA DFS lineups after he’s averaged 21.2 points and 13.6 rebounds over his last five starts. Before you make your NBA DFS picks, be sure to check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure.

McClure is a DFS professional with over $2 million in career winnings. He’s also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account.

This allows him to find the best NBA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They’re a must-see for any NBA DFS player.

On Sunday, he highlighted Mavericks center Christian Wood in his NBA DFS player pool for DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Wood scored 27 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to return 50 points on DraftKings and 45.2 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, McClure has turned his attention to NBA action on Monday and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.

Top NBA DFS picks for Monday, January 9

One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks on Monday is Kings F/C Domantas Sabonis, who is listed at $10,500 on DraftKings and $10,400 on FanDuel. Sabonis scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in his last start on Saturday against the Lakers. Since sitting out a game on December 27 with a sore thumb, he has averaged 23.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 6.7 assists over his last six games.

On Monday, the Kings host the Orlando Magic, who will be without seven-footer Bol Bol (health and safety protocols) for the fourth consecutive game. Over the last 10 games, opposing centers have shot 68% within five feet of the basket against Orlando. This season, 47% of Sabonis’ shots have come right at the basket, and he’s made 77.3% of them, which sets him up for another strong offensive performance on Monday.

Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Spurs guard Tre Jones ($6,000 on DraftKings and $6,200 on FanDuel). Jones scored 18 points and finished with five rebounds and five assists in his last start on Saturday against Boston. Over his last three games, he’s averaged 19 points, 4.7 assists and 1.3 steals.

The Spurs take on the Memphis Grizzlies for the second time this season on Monday, and the Grizzlies could be without point guard Ja Morant, after he missed Sunday’s game against Utah with a thigh injury. In Jones’ last start against the Grizzlies, he fought through a 4-for-13 shooting night to score 11 points, but he also had 11 assists, four rebounds and a steal. Since Devin Vassell’s knee injury earlier this month, Jones’ usage rate has been up over 30% in every game since, and he should see plenty of volume once again on Monday with both Vassell and Keldon Johnson (hamstring) out.
