The Indiana Pacers snapped their three-game losing streak with a 115-103 victory over the Washington Wizards on Sunday. Pascal Siakam led the charge with 22 points, while Tyrese Haliburton added 21 points and nine assists.
The loss extended Washington’s skid to 11 games, giving the team the NBA’s worst record at 2-13.
Rookie Alexandre Sarr stood out for the Wizards, recording 17 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Bilal Coulibaly also contributed 17 points in the defeat.
Indiana sealed the game with a 7-2 run midway through the fourth quarter, creating a 105-98 lead with just under five minutes left. During this stretch, Washington missed six consecutive shots, allowing the Pacers to pull away.
Bennedict Mathurin scored 16 points, while Moses Brown contributed 15 points off the bench, including Indiana’s first eight points of the game. Brown, recently signed, has already made an impact on his eighth NBA team in just six seasons.
Washington showed resilience throughout the game, staying competitive until the final quarter. However, the team struggled defensively, allowing Indiana to shoot 47.7% from the field and 44.4% from beyond the arc.
Corey Kispert came off the bench to score 15 points for the Wizards, and Kyshawn George added 15 as well. Despite the contributions, the visitors fell short, particularly in the clutch moments.
For Indiana, T.J. McConnell added 12 points and three assists, while Obi Toppin chipped in 11 points.
Sarr’s 14 rebounds underscored Washington’s effort on the boards, as they grabbed 41 total rebounds compared to Indiana’s 45.
However, the Wizards committed 16 turnovers, which Indiana capitalized on with efficient ball movement, assisting on 31 of their 41 made field goals.
Indiana, now 7-11, improved to 5-3 at home but continues to struggle on the road, where they hold a 2-8 record. The Pacers aim to carry their momentum into their next game against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday.
